Field ornithologist and bird researcher, Lloyd Nielsen, is the first Queenslander to receive the prestigious J.N. Hobbs Medal, awarded in 2014 by BirdLife Australia for outstanding amateur contributions to Australasian ornithology.

Birding Australia is a directory created by a birder with a lifetime of experience studying Australia’s birds in the field. Setting a trend when first published in 2002, it is available in two editions ~ one designed for international birders visiting Australia for the first time, the other for Australian birders.
